With the 2021 Christian County Fair coming up soon, Superintendent of Exhibits Linda Binger encourages any- one interested in exhibiting to prepare their work now. The fairbook with events, exhibit categories, requirements, forms and more is available online at christiancountyfair.com. The fair will start Tuesday, July 20 and run until Saturday, July 24.
On July 20, Open Class and Junior Class participants can enter the Culinary, Textile and Fine Arts exhibit. On July 21, they can enter agricultural products (vegetables) and flowers.
In order to enter, exhibitors must be within the age class by the first day of the fair, July 20. The Junior Class consists of ages eight to 18 years old, and the Open Class ages 12 to adult. Exhibitors 12 or older may show in both Junior Class and Open Class, but can- not show the same exhibit in both.
Participants should get their exhibitor ticket and number and pay all fees the week before the fair or by noon on Monday, July 19 at the Fairgrounds office, open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. An Open Class exhibitor pass costs five dollars and an additional one dollar per entry, due at registration time. The Junior Class does not charge an exhibitor fee, but does cost 50 cents for each entry, also due at registration. Exhibitors may only show one item in each category. All entries must be made or grown by the registered exhibitor.
The exhibits will be in the Expo Building, which will open at 8 a.m. each day. Entries must be in place by noon. Closed judging begins at 1 p.m. All judges are from other counties. Any winning exhibit must remain on display until 6 p.m. the following day to allow viewing by fair visitors.
With dozens of categories to choose from, Binger is confident that everyone can find an interest, and reminds the public that they still have time to get something ready to enter. Anyone with questions about exhibiting can reach Binger at 217-565-2353.
