EDINBURG — The Edinburg Wildcat boys bas- ketball team will have a new leader this season after the departure of Jon Yard.
Coach Jake Thomas graduated from Edinburg in 2010 and joined the Air Force in 2011. He currently serves as a Vehicle Maintenance Superintendent at the 183rd Wing in Springfield. Adding to his resume this year will be head boys basketball coach.
Thomas is familiar to coaching in the area as he began his coaching career at the Junior High level as he was an assistant on the Junior High football team. In 2016, he transitioned to basketball where he was fifth and sixth grade head boys basketball coach, as well as an assistant on the seventh and eighth grade teams.
Thomas will retain Rashawn Jones as his assistant for the upcoming season.
