THS FFA/Alumni drive thru pork chop/sweet corn dinner

The THS FFA and Alumni will host their annual drive thru pork chop and sweet corn dinner Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4:30-6:30 or until sold out. Serving will begin behind THS at the Ag Shop. Tickets are available from FFA members or Neal Tire. Cost is $12 and includes 1” thick pork chop, potato salad, apple sauce and all the sweet corn you can eat.

The Taylorville Moose Lodge will host a drive-thru or dine in dinner every Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. Call ahead to order and drive-thru to pickup at 287-1232. Menu includes: fish dinner, fish by the piece, catfish and shrimp, catfish filet dinner, chicken strips/potato, grilled chicken breast, shrimp dinner, New York Strip Steak dinner, 1/4 and 1/2 lb. hamburgers and cheeseburgers with choice of baked potato, fries, tater tots or loaded mashed. The Downtown Taylorville Farmer’s Market will open up for the season Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the Taylorville square. Vendors will have vegetable plants, onion sets, annual and perennial flowers, shrubs, bulk vegetable seeds, local honey products, freshly roasted coffee, rhubarb, green onions and possibly asparagus.

Christian County Historical Society Annual meeting

The Christian County Historical Society in Taylorville invites all to its annual meeting followed by a strawberry shortcake social and a concert by the Taylorville Municipal Band which will perform on the front lawn. Meeting begins at 5:00 pm; strawberry shortcake at 6:15; and the band will play promptly at 7:00pm. Tour Christian County’s first courthouse, enjoy sweet treats, and set up your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a fabulous summer evening concert. The public is encouraged to attend. Please enter through the back gate, nearest the Super 8 Motel.

There will be a car show and cookout on Friday, July 23, 2021, along with Kona Ice, a 50/50 drawing, margarita special and bags at the Taylorville VFW, 515 N. West Ave. Taylorville. Sign up is from 12-1 p.m.. Registration is $20 per car. Awards will be given at 3 p.m. with prizes for the First Responder’s choice, People’s choice, Memorial Home’s choice and Best of Show.

The Davis Memorial Christian Church (DMCC) Annual Block Party will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at 1500 W. Franklin Street in Taylorville. Free food, drinks, music and kids activities. Live music by The Antics Band. Kona Ice will be on site and special visits from the TPD and TFD. For more info call 824-8181.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church Annual Steak Dinner

The Holy Trinity Catholic Church will host their annual steak dinner Sunday, August 1, 2021. Tickets are pre-sold only/limited quantity available. Cost is $15 each/free kids’meal ticket. Drive thru pickup 10:30-12:30/just off Rt. 48 in Stonington. Includes charcoal grilled steak, sandwich style, traditional green beans, potatoes, homemade cookie. Tickets available at Stonington Village Hall or contact via Facebook Messenger @Holy Trinity Catholic Church. No tickets sold day of event.

Annual Tornado Open

The Annual Tornado Open Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Lakeshore Golf Course. Tee times begin at 10 a.m. and it will be a shotgun start for all golfers.
