SPRINGFIELD — The Workforce Institute at Lincoln Land Community College is inviting those interested in starting a career in the trades to a Workforce 101 event the evening of Wednesday, July 28. Registration for Workforce 101 is available at www.llcc.edu/workforce.
Participants can try their hands at a trade and meet employers. Sessions to choose from include construction, automotive tech- nology, welding, culinary arts and hospitality management, and aviation mechanics. Attendees can also get assistance with enrollment and financial aid. All 101 sessions will be held at the LLCC Workforce Careers Center, 5250 Shepherd Rd., except aviation mechanics, which is located at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.
At Workforce 101 sessions, prospective students roll up their sleeves and experience the kinds of work they’d be doing on the job. Employers talk about careers in their industries, demand and wages.
Workforce 101 participants will receive Workforce Institute swag, and light refreshments will be available.
LLCC is also hosting a number of Rapid Enrollment Days for new students who wish to enter LLCC this fall. More information is available at www.llcc.edu/rapid.
