Children first
Yes, it’s a tragedy about the illegal immigrant’s children but the focus should be on our own, first. Speaking from personal experience/knowledge, we have so many broken families due to drugs and other reasons and our children are paying the price. We have a severe shortage of Foster HOmes. Siblings are scattered among towns/coutnies and only see each other for 2 hours on weekly/biweekly supervised visits. They can’t go to the same schools, ride bikes, or just hang out together on weekends and holidays. They become strangers to each other. Those who can’t “Foster” could volunteer to be a Big Brother/Sisiter? Grandparent. Take them fishing, on picnics or just let them “hang out” with a responsible adult figure/family/each other. That could be something they never hd. Even while living with their parents. Open your hearts to our own children.
Thanks for parks
I just want to say thank you to the people that maintains the Taylorville parks especially Manets Park.
(Ed. Note: We believe the writer is refering to Manners Park.)
Seniors help
I understand the government is starting to give the families of children $300 per month per child. I hope when the new year rolls around, the government finds extra money for senior citizens who are living on 1.6% raises from last year. The government seems to forget about our senior citizens. They say nothing goes up from year to year. What about gas, groceries, prescriptions, etc. Just a thought. Maybe we need to get some of the younger citizens back to work and off of employment. That might help
Summer school
While some school board members are asking questions can someone find out why Taylorville didn’t offer summer school when they were remote for half of last year? Districts all around us that were in person all year had all kinds of summer school programs available. What are they spending all the Covid money on?
Hiding things
Why does it seem like the school district and the current school board members are hiding things, and afraid to answer questions?
Kudo’s to you Brenda Patrick for standing up and asking questions. We need more board members like you. I’m glad I voted for you, keep up the good work.
Scared
I’m really scared for American people. With the government giving out $300 to the unemployed, people don’t want to go back to work until that runs out. Our businesses cant survive with out help. Don’t people understand that with 100’s of people coming into America each day that they will take your jobs away and when they are ready to go back to work, their jobs may not be there. I’m a senior citizen, if my health would allow it, I would love to take a part time job and probably make more that I used to at a full time job. I hoping and praying that the working people wake up and see what is happening.
