TAYLORVILLE — The First National Bank of Pana is pleased to award The Dixon Zeigler Scholarship to Maggie Holthaus of Stonington, IL as presented by Frank J. McChristy, the bank’s Controller and Assistant Trust Officer. Maggie isthe daughter of Robert and Jill Holthaus. She is a 2021 graduate of Taylorville High School, attending Lincoln Land Community College, and plans to transfer to Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While attending Taylorville High School, Maggie was an honors student for all four years. She also participat- ed in Student Council, Key Club, FFA, and Volleyball. She has served at the local Food Pantry, volunteered with her church, and attended the Catholic Heart Work Camp Mission Trip.
Mr. Zeigler farmed in the Stonington area for many years. Upon his death in 2015, his wishes included the establishment of an education trust for deserv- ing graduates of the Taylorville High School, residing in the last bound- aries of the former Stonington School District when it was annexed to the Taylorville CUSD #3 in the year 1992. In addition to residing in the former Stonington School District, the student must have graduated in the top one- half of their Taylorville High School graduating class and must be enrolled as a full-time student in a college in the State of Illinois.
The Dixon Ziegler Scholarship will provide $2,500.00 per semester for four years, or until the student has earned their undergraduate degree, if earned in less than four years.
