TAYLORVILLE — Members of the community attended the Taylorville park district meeting Monday night to share their concerns on the proposed location of the skateboard park.
Kathy Drea, a homeowner in the Janes Park area, was concerned with kids playing loud music, using foul language, fighting, littering and grafiti. She also said that the skate board park would be in need of security. Other homeowners in the area agreed with Drea that Janes Park is not a good location for the skateboard park.
The Skateboard Park Committee attended the meeting to hear those concerns. It was suggested to the committee the park be put in the parking lot by the library. Taylorville Mayor Bruce Barry said the city does own that lot and they can look into it. No motions were made to put the skateboard park in Janes Park.
