TAYLORVILLE — The annual Children’s concert by the Municipal Band will be held at the Christian County Historical Society on Wednesday, July 28. The concert will begin at 7:00 PM and is free and open to the public. In this performance designed for the young and young at heart, the band has prepared some challenging pieces that young people will recognize.
Some of the younger members of the Municipal Band will be featured soloists at the concert. Sisters, Lauren and Kathryn Carley will each perform a solo. Lauren will perform the Oboe Solo, Cinema Paradiso and Katheryn will perform the Euphonium solo, Carnival of Venice. Dorian Chase will perform the trombone solo, Blue Bells of Scotland. The percussion section will also be featured on the percussion ensemble piece, Mark Time.
Other selections will be: The Purple Carnival March by Harry Alford; Michael Jackson: Through the Years arranged by Michael Brown; Instant Concert by Harold Walters; Disney at the Oscars arranged by John Moss; Looney Tunes Overture arranged by Bill Holcombe and America the Beautiful arranged by Carman Dragon.
Bring your blanket or lawn chairs to the Christian County Historical Society and enjoy the evening of music.
