TAYLORVILLE — University of Illinois Extension Christian County Ag in the Classroom (AITC) was presented with a generous $1,500 donation from Central Commodity FS in Taylorville.

Rebecca Livingston,  Christian County Agricultural Literacy  Program Coordinator, said, “Central Commodity FS has always been a supporter of the Ag in the Classroom program and their donation is just one of the many ways they support our program.”

AITC programs seek to improve student achievement by applying authentic, agricultural-based content as the context to teach core curriculum concepts in science, social studies, language arts and nutrition.

By encouraging teachers to embed agriculture into their classroom, AITC cultivates an understanding and appreciation of the food and fiber system that we all rely on every day.
