Mary Lou Clayton, a long-time resident of Mt. Auburn, is a graduate of Taylorville High School. She married Charlie Clayton on January 2, 1946, and they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary prior to his death in 2001.
Mary Lou is the mother of six children: Bette, Bonnie, Margaret, Charlene, Chuck, and Russell. All of her children are graduates of Mt. Auburn High School. She is very proud of her family – 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great gradchild. She feels very fortunate to have a five-generation family.
Mary Lou retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company in Springfield. She is an active member of the Church of Christ in Mt. Auburn and has the distinction of being the oldest member of the congregation. She is also the oldest citizen of Mt. Auburn.
Mary Lou is very proud to be chosen as the 2021 Parade marshal. She would like to invite everyone to the Mt. Auburn picnic and extends her best wishes to all members of her community of Mt. Auburn.
