PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — Two people have died from injuries suffered in a crash that occurred during a police pursuit in western Kentucky, authorities said.
An initial investigation found that Lamont X. Young, 27, of De Soto, Illinois, fled from a McCracken County Sheriff’s deputy who was trying to arrest him, Kentucky State Police said in a statement. Young drove a Honda Civic west toward an intersection, where he failed to stop at a traffic light and collided with a Ford Explorer, police said.
The driver of the Ford, Deborah K. Burge, 60, of Cunningham, Kentucky, was declared dead at the scene by the McCracken County coroner.
Young was airlifted to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, but died early Tuesday, police said.
An investigation into the crash continues, officials said.
