Pana Police benefit to be held Saturday

PANA — Due to the rain last Saturday, a benefit for the Pana Police Department was postponed, The event is now Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. It will feature a cookout on the parking lot of Save-A-Lot Foods, , 1 W. Fourth St., in Pana.
The menu will be sandwiches, chips and a drink. Prices vary on the meal depending on what is selected. Menu includes, steak sandwiches, pork chop sandwiches, brautwurst and hot dogs.
Funds raised will be used towards the department’s Safe Passage Program. It offers services supporting those struggling with addictions to get into treatment quicker.
In addition, money will be used to purchase of more advanced equipment for officers including upgrading body camera accessories and software. It will also go to additional specialized training for officers which costs more and also supporting the K9 program.
There will also be T-shirts available for sale. Becky Wafford is the organizer of the event.
