Rebecca Sue (Sharp) Melburn

 

March 18, 1947 — August 2, 2021

Rebecca Sue “Becky” Melburn, 74, of Ballwin, Mo., passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:30 p.m. at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo. Becky was born on March 18, 1947, in Taylorville, Ill., the daughter of George M. and Alethea D. (Brisco) Sharp. She graduated from Taylorville High School with the class of 1965. She was first employed by Gardner Advertising in St. Louis after moving to Missouri and retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Executive Assistant.

Becky became quite proficient in her gardening abili- ties after her retirement and attended regularly to “sprucing up” the outdoor area around her condo and that of her neighbors at Treetop Condominiums, all of which was greatly appreciated by the residents. She was always eager and available to lend a helping hand to her neighbors when it came to odd jobs in and around the units.

Becky was preceded in death by her infant son, David Bradley Unser, her parents, sister, Betty Lou Johnson, brother, Kelsey Henry Sharp, brothers-in-law; James G. Johnson, Ronald H. Nation, Robert Collins, and nephew- in-Iaw, Robert Schmitt, and by her loyal canine companion, Lupita Sue. She is survived by her sisters; Mary Etta (husband, Dale) Smith, Patricia (husband, the late Robert) Collins, and Toni Kay (husband, Michael) O’Bryan, nieces; Deborah H. Schmitt, Gwendolyn N. Collins, Bridget E. Pletz, Jackie Mullen and Katie A. Gagne, nephews; Kirk M. Johnson, Douglas C. Collins and Michael J. Nation, and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephew.

Cremation was provided by St. Louis Cremation. A family graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, Ill., at a later date.

The family is grateful for the loving care that was given to Becky by the doctors and nurses at Missouri Baptist Medical Center and by the attention her friends and neighbors at Treetop gave to her in helping her with her daily needs.

    I knew Becky years ago and used to ride to work w her to St Louis from Collinsville. We had some good times together. My prayers are with her family.
