Oliver “Ollie” F. Dubre
November 11, 1927 — August 14, 2021
Oliver “Ollie” F. Dubre, 93 of Taylorville, formerly of Pana passed away Saturday,
August 14, 2021 at his home. He was born November 11, 1927 in Danville, Ill. to the late Oliver Winston and Cora Mae (Brazelton) Dubre. He married Barbara Francis Mense on June 25, 1978 at the Pana Presbyterian Church and she survives.
Ollie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War
and was a member of the U.S. Navy Band. He went on to earn a master’s
degree in music education from the university of Illinois and became the Head of the Music Department and the Band Director for the Junior/Senior bands until retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Taylorville, Illini Alumni Association, Taylorville American Legion, Pana Lions Club, and the Pana Sportsman’s Club. In his leisure time he was an avid golfer and enjoyed bass fishing and hunting. Ollie was a very kind man and touched the hearts of many lives with his love of music.
Along with his wife, Ollie is survived by his children: Bruce (Susan) Dubre, Springfield, Ill.; Paul (Kate) Dubre, Taylorville, Ill.; Susan Hargrave, Gilbert, Ariz.; Dawn (Eric) Beyers, Owaneco, Ill.; grandchildren: Bart (Ashley) Dubre, Kevin Hargrave, Sarah (Donnie) Conoyer, Joshua (Alison) Beyers, Catherine (Dr. Matt) Hooper, Camille Beyers; great- grandchildren: Samantha Lord, Ryan Lord, Jillian Schooley, Joey Conoyer, Jack Conoyer, Luella Beyers; and sister: Dorothy Swaim, Georgetown, Ill. He was preceded by his par- ents and five of his sisters: Helen Rolinitis, Marian Godsey, Francis Hansen, Virginia Brown, and Jeanette Bailey.
Funeral services for Ollie will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 in United In Faith Church, Pana at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Becky Lembke and Pastor Leon Goff co-officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana with military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the church.
