Paul E. Allgood

September 8, 1947 — August 7, 2021

Paul E. Allgood, 73, of Edinburg, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Paul was born on September 8, 1947, in Pana, Ill. the son of Clayton and Mary (Clark) Allgood.
He grew up working on a dairy farm and graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1965. After graduating he joined the Air Force, starting at Lackland AFB in Texas, then moving to Chanute AFB in Rantoul, and Clark AFB in the Philippines.
He was honorably discharged in 1970 as a Staff Sergeant. Paul married Saundra Hamilton and they later divorced. Paul later went on to work for Capitol Machinery, now Altorfer in Springfield. He started out as a mechanic and retired in 2012 after 42 years as a heavy haul trucker. He was known as “Trucker Paul” and could haul anything in one piece and was good at “sneaking through the woods”.

Paul also enjoyed woodworking and RVing, in 2017, he and his wife Lisa drove 9 of the 10 Alaskan Highways in their RV.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Judy Smith.

He married Lisa (Rettberg) Tudor in 2001 and she survives as well as his children, Kevin (Rebecca) Allgood, Dwayne (Nichole) Allgood, Nathan Tumulty, Rhett (Courtney) Tudor and Serena (Zach Garrett) Tudor, and many grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and his beloved cats, Jojo, S’mores, and Misty.

A celebration of life will be held starting at 1:00PM at the Edinburg Community building on Sunday, August 22.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Air Force Aid Society, or to the Animal Protective League.
