MOWEAQUA — The football team at Central A & M High School has a lot of his- tory behind it, but coaches and players alike this sea- son want to carve out their own path.
“We have quite a bit returning, we still need to focus on the basics of blocking and tackling if we want to continue having success,” Head Coach Brent Weakly said.
Now entering his seventh season at the helm of the Raiders, Weakly was glad to get a partial season put together this past spring.
“Seniors got to play, which they deserved and we were able to get some young guys some reps,” he said.
Among the players he feels will have an impact on the team are: James Paradee, Brody Barnes, Ethan Sunderland, Jarrett Robertson, Cody Sloan, Dalton Nichols, Lane Whitney and Caleb Woods. He also said Will Thompson is someone who could surprise some people.
Weakly said no game is more important than the other.
“We need to improve and grow every game if we want to reach our goals.”
The Raiders open the season at Leroy on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. First home contest is Friday, Sept. 3, hosting Nokomis.
