TAYLORVILLE — Student registration for Taylorville Community Credit Union’s 8th annual Scholarship Program has begun, and will run through Friday, October 8th. Senior students at Taylorville, Hillsboro, Litchfield and Pana High Schools who plan to con- tinue their education after high school graduation in May, 2022, are eligible.
“Any senior who plans to continue their education –whether at a trade school, community college or a 4- year university – can register,” says TCCU President, Will Perkins. “Two students from each of the four high schools will receive $1000 awards toward their education.”
Perkins points out that registering for the program is easy. “Registration and parental permission forms are available at all four TCCU locations, as well as on our web site at www.TCCU.org.
“We simply need the students to provide us their name, a good quality photo – such as their senior photo — and a completed parental permission slip.”
TCCU’s Scholarship Program is unique in that award recipients are determined by votes cast by community residents. Tri-county residents can cast votes for their preferred student(s) whenever they shop at participating retailers in Taylorville, Hillsboro, Litchfield and Pana.
“For every $10 they spend at a participating business, shoppers can cast one vote for a student. Spend $100, you can cast 10 votes,” Perkins explains.
Participating businesses in their respective communities will display a poster of registered students’ photos. There is a limit of 100 votes ($1000 purchase) per any individual purchase. There is no limit to how many businesses people can patronize, or how many times.
Students have until end- of-day Friday, October 8th, to register. “We know COVID-19 continues to make this a less-than-normal time for everyone,” Perkins points out. “We want our students to know there is something they can count on – that TCCU, and their local communities, are here to help them realize their dreams.”
All high school seniors at Taylorville, Hillsboro, Litchfield and Pana High Schools who plan to continue their education are encouraged to register in the program by Friday, October 8th..
Scholarships will be awarded at the end of the school year in May, 2022.
