WILLIAMSVILLE — Overcast weather is soccer weather this season as the opening match of the Williamsville Four Corners Tournement was held on Monday afternoon. Taylorville faced off with the Beradstown Tigers at the Williamsville Sports Complex. The tournement spans over the course of six days.
The Tornadoes had some trouble against the Tigers in this one, losing the match, 10-0.
Having done their opening game warm-ups The Tornadoes took the field and would defend the Tigers to start it off. Not waiting more than five minutes to score, the Tigers quickly jumped ahead 1-0. Senior Adrian Rodriguez took it upon himself to be the spark for the Tigers. He not only would be the first goal for the opposing team but would also go on to earn the hat trick in just the first half. With 18:32 left on the clock, Taylorville would find themselves deep in a hole, but would keep their composure and would do their best to remain calm. Beardstown scored a couple more goals in the first half.
Taylorville had some chances at the net, but never quite finding it and the half came to a close with the Tornadoes down, 6-0.
After the quick rest and speech, Taylorville gets the ball to start the second half. Breardstown showing no signs of slowing down at all took the ball right from Taylorville and attempting multiple shots on goal.
The Tigers would keep pouring it on and score 4 more in the second half. The last one coming just sec- onds before the final whilstle blew signaling time has run out. Tigers would beat Taylorville with a final score of 10-0.
Taylorville’s net minder, senior Bart Heinsness, finished the game with an impressive 10 saves.
The Tornadoes continue play in the Williamsville 4 Corner Tournement on Wednessday at 4:40 p.m., acing the home team, Williamsville Bullets, as they look to score and snag their first win of the 2021 season.
