VANDALIA — Behind Jillian Hamilton’s team high kills and 9 digs, the Pana Panthers volleyball team went to 2-0 in South Central Conference play at Vandalia Tuesday night, posting a straight set win, 25-23, 25-18.
Rachel Holthaus made 12 assists and served 6 points. Chloe Ashcraft led the team with 7 service points and she recorded 4 aces.
Holthaus and Lainey Hicks each made 5 kills and Ashcraft, 4. Sierra Richards had 7 digs with Jadyn Bearup getting 5. Emily Blackwell dished out 6 assists.
As a team, Pana totaled 32 kills. at Hillsboro- At Hillsboro on Tuesday, Aug. 24, the Panthers opened the 2021 campaign and won their first South Central Conference match of the season, a 25-15, 25-9 win over the Hiltoppers.
Hamilton got 6 kills in the match and Hicks made 6 blocks and 4 kills at the net. Ashcraft had 5 kills and Kady Perry slapped 4 kills.
From the service line, Holthaus served 10 points and had 14 assists. Blackwell dished out 6 assists. Bearup, Hamilton and Kiley Ladage each served 4 points.
Sierra Richards led the team with 3 digs and Bearup, Hamilton and Hicks each had 2. at Rochester- Pana traveled to Rochester on Thursday,
Aug. 26 where the Rockets handed them a 17-25, 14- 25 defeat.
The Panthers got a half- dozen kills from Hamilton with Blackwell having 2. Ladage and Olivia Anderson each had a block.
Holthaus got 5 service points with an ace and Blackwell served 3. Ashcraft and Hamilton served 2 points each.
Hamilton was able to get 5 digs and Ladage and Richards got 4 apiece.
Pana, 2-1 overall and 2-0 in SCC play, will get to play before the hometown fans for the first time this season on Thursday, Sept. 2, when they host Central A & M in non-conference action. The freshman match will start at 5:00 p.m.
