Lester Gaylord Fesser

October 14, 1928 — September 1, 2021 Lester Gaylord Fesser, 92

of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at his home in rural Taylorville, Ill. He was born on October

14, 1928 in Taylorville, Ill. the
son of Lester Francis and Hattie
Viretta (Smith) Fesser. He married
Shirley L. Blair on April 25, 1952
in Taylorville, Ill. and she preced-
ed him in death on January 19,
1993. He worked as a laborer at
Caterpillar in Decatur and was a
U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Lester was a member of the Edinburg Masonic Lodge #647 AF&AM and the Ansar Shrine.

He is survived by his Son: Danny (Carol) Fesser of Taylorville, Ill.; Grandchildren: Melinda (Ryan) Jones of Virginia Beach, Va.; Craig (Ashlee) Fesser of Smithfield, Va.; Great-Grandchildren: Zara (8), Ella (4), Riley (15), Jaxon (10). He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and Son: Michael G. Fesser.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held immediately fol- lowing the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Randy Burwell officiating. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg with military graveside honors.

Mariam E. Winans

November 16, 1922 — September 2, 2021 Mariam E. Winans, 98 of Mt.

Auburn passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 12:05 p.m. at her home in rural Mt. Auburn, Ill.

She was born on November 16, 1922 in Champaign, Ill. the daughter of Denzil and Myra (Frazee) Smith. She married R. Merle Winans on February 1, 1947 in Chatham, Ill.

She retired from Memorial
Medical Center as R.N. in 1991.
Mariam graduated from Chatham
High School in the Class of 1940 and St. John’s School of Nursing in 1946.

She is survived by her daughter: Linda Jo Winans, of Mt. Auburn; sons: Russ (Becky) Winans, Mt. Auburn; Curt (Vickie) Winans, Mt. Auburn; Alex (Kay) Winans, Mt. Auburn; Ben (Amy) Winans, Taylorville, Ill.; daugh- ter-in-law: Pam Winans of Bloomington, Ill.; grandchil- dren: Josh (Ann) Winans, Jacob (Laura) Winans, Phillip Winans, Jennifer (Gabe) Anderson, Jarred Winans, Abby Winans, Eric Winans, Travis Winans, and Lilly Winans; great-grandchildren: Kaylor, Toby, Lauren, Tucker, Ty, and Madelyn; brothers: Homer Lee (Mary Alice) Smith of Arlington Heights, Ill.; sister-In-laws: Bev Smith of Normal, Ill. and Marilyn Smith of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Bradley O. Winans, brothers: Denzil Smith Jr., Harold Smith and Don Smith; brother and sister In laws: George and Leah Winans, James and Dixie Winans, Glenn and Dorothy Winans.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 starting at 3:00 p.m. at Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg with Pastor Becky Lembke offici- ating.

    As a very young boy we lived on a small farm west of Sharpsburg…Gaylord was part of my childhood memories and I’m sad to hear of his passing. Jim Allen, Palm Springs, Ca.
