Alan Louis Christopher

Alan Louis Christopher, 70, of Edinburg, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 6, 2021.

Alan was born December
22, 1950 in Morrisonville, the son of
Clarence and Treva (Parish)
Christopher, Sr. He graduated from
Edinburg High School with the
Class of 1969, and went on to
proudly serve our country in the
United States Army. Upon his hon-
orable discharge, Alan continued to
serve our country in the United
States Naval Reserves for many years. He married Sheila Blevins, and together they had three children. They later divorced.

Alan worked for 19 years as a welder for Fiat Allis in Springfield, before the plant closed. He then worked as a window washer for Maintenance Supply Corp. in Springfield for many years, and he loved repelling down the sides of the buildings he washed. Alan also farmed for the Bunn family for many years. He loved flower and vegetable gardening, enjoying it so much that he took forestry and horticulture classes at Lincoln Land Community College. Alan compet- ed in many bowling leagues over the years, and he enjoyed a good game of Trivial Pursuit and John Wayne westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Travis Anthony Christopher; brothers, Barry and James Christopher; and sister, Barbara Colclasure.

Alan is survived by his son, A. Louis Christopher II of Deer Trail, Colo.; daughter, Salena (husband, Jason) Gibson of Chatham; grandsons, Chase, Carson, and Joseph Gibson; siblings, Donnie (wife, Susie) Christopher of Taylorville, Treva (husband, John) Fiaoni of Taylorville, Willie (husband, Doug) Murphy of Ohio, Millie Christopher of Edinburg, and Clarence (wife, Grace) Christopher, Jr. of Decatur; and sev- eral nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation & Graveside Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, Ill. 62568. A graveside ceremo- ny with military honors will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. at Edinburg Cemetery.
