SHELBYVILLE — Mostly Scotland” is the title for the newest art exhibit at Flourishes Gallery and Studios in downtown Shelbyville. Carol Kessler, artist, vacationed in Scotland many times, coming home with photos from which to paint in both oil and pastel, her two mediums of choice. The opening reception will be held Saturday, September 11 from 2-5 p.m. with Carol present to talk to visitors about her work and techniques. Flourishes is located at 140 1/2 East Main, Shelbyville with an elevator available to reach the second floor. This show is brought to you by Keepers of the Arts. Nineteen pieces make up the show with mostly the subject matter of landscapes and animals Carol photographed in Scotland and in Ireland. Traveling around with her late husband as driver, many are of places many touring with a company may not see. Morning walks also were a favorite time to add to the photo collection. Among the pieces hung on the walls, Kessler also has ongoing pastel paintings using a new medium for her of PanPastel in which to experiment. The show will continue until November 3 and viewable during open hours or by appointment.
