DECATUR — Children ages 1-5 with one adult buddy are invited to Rock Springs Nature Center for themed Mini Camps this fall. These camps provide a great opportunity for young ones to learn about nature alongside other children, with the comfort of a loved one nearby.
Each camp is $6/child. Space is limited. Must pre-register online by noon the day before the scheduled camp at MaconCountyConservation.org. Face coverings and social distancing required. Due to COVID- 19, we ask that only one adult accompany each camper. Dress warm: As long as the weather is favorable, camp will be held outside.
Mini Camp: Dinosaur Stomp will be offered Tuesday, September 21 and Wednesday, September 22 from 9:30- 10:30am. In this camp, we’ll study dinosaurs through artifacts and cre- ative play.
Mini Camp: Pumpkins will be offered Wednesday, October 6 and Thursday, October 7 from 9:30- 10:30am. Campers will
dig into a pumpkin and experience this fruit firsthand.
Mini Camp: Beautiful Bats will be offered Tuesday, October 19 and Wednesday, October 20 from 9:30-10:30am. We’ll explore bats, and learn about their amazing adaptations.
Mini Camp: Cool Seeds will be offered Wednesday, November 3 and Thursday, November 4 from 9:30-10:30am. Discover how nature pre- pares for winter by creating seeds. We’ll discover what makes seeds and where to find them.
Mini Camp: Turkey Trot will offered Tuesday, November 16 and Wednesday, November 17 from 9:30-10:30am. We’ll learn about these big birds, and look at their feathers to see what we can learn about them.
Rock Springs Conservation Area is located on the southwest- ern edge of Decatur. To get to Rock Springs from Taylorville, go north on Route 48 and turn west onto Rock Springs Road. Watch for signs. Plenty of parking is available.
