TAYLORVILLE— The Taylorville High School cross country teams – boys and girls – hosted a meet at the Christian County fairgrounds on Thursday, the first home meet over the 3- mile course. It was a trian- gular meet, with Pana and Lincoln also participating.
It was a good day for the Taylorville squads as both the boys and girls teams raced to victories.
Taylorville boys finished in first place with a score of 23, followed by Lincoln in second then Pana coming in third with 73.
Owen and Evan Morgan took the lead quickly for Taylorville, sticking with the top runner, Lincoln’s Brendon Heitzig. They would not be able to catch him as Heitzig finished first with a speedy time of 16:34.6. The Morgans fin- ishing in second and third, with times of 17:11.5 and 17:12, respectively.
For the Taylorville girls team, Taylorville finished in first place with Ella Goodman leading the charge. She was the first girl to cross the finish line with a time of 21:40.9. Anna Goodman followed behind her finishing fourth with a time of 22:47.2.
Taylorville’s next meet was Saturday in Springfield. This will be the Lee Halbert Invitational. Results will appear in Monday’s Breeze-Courier..
