ROCHESTER — The 53rd Lee Halberg Invitational was held Saturday in Rochester with a total of 19 schools from arund the state. The Taylorville boys placed 6th with a score of 132 while the girls team placed 8th with a score of 195.
On the boys side of things, the top three schools were Mahomet (47), Chatham (100) and Urbana (106). Best time for the boys was turned in by Quincy senior Fiker Rosen.
Taking command for Taylorville were the Morgan Brothers. Senior Evan Morgan finishing in 11th with a time of 17:05. Sophmore Owen Morgan finished 9 spots behind him in 20th time of 17:25. Coach Steve Walters com- mented on the boys saying, “Were happy with the results we got. Some of the best in this particular invi- tational.”
For the girls top three teams were Monticello (48), Chatham (55) and Normal (72). Taylorville finished 8th with a score of 195. The top runner for the girls was Monticello junior Mabry Bruhn.
As for the Tornadoes, it was sophmore Ella Goodman finished 28th with a time of 22:09. “These girls took on the hilly course very well.” said Walters commenting on the difficulty of this race. The next meet for the Tornado cross country team is Thursday for the Decatur Cross Country Invitational. The race will be held at Hickory Point Golf Course.
