Panthers have golf matches Monday

PANA — The boys and girls golf teams of Pana High School took part in separate golf outings on Monday. The girls host- ed Charleston, Effingham and Sullivan at Oak Terrace Golf Club while the boys went to Hillsboro for a meet with the Hilltoppers.
The girls were led by Ellie Kuhn with a 51, but came in fourth in the meet.
Charleston fired a round of 177 to claim top honors, followed by Effingham with a 190 score. Sullivan was third, 222.
Taryn Pearson of Charleston was the medalist with a round of 42 not he par-36 lay- out.
Kassie Weideman fired a 58 for Pana with Claire Osborn posting a 64. Madison Clark had a 67 and Kristen Cravens, 70. Grace Fitzpatrick carded a 71 with Leandra Bumgarner having a 72.
For the boys, at the Hillsboro County Club, the host Hillsboro had a team score of 157 to take the win, compared to 202 for the Panthers.
Austin Karbach had Pana’s best round with a 44. He was followed by Owen Spracklen with a 48. Jaxon Rhodes had a 49 and Jacob Dorn finished with 61.
The girls are in Litchfield this afternoon for a match with the Purple Panthers, Hillsboro and Bethalto. Meanwhile, the boys are home to face Teutopolis.
