The deadline for 2021 Irrigation Water Use reporting to the Illinois State Water Survey’s Water Inventory Program is approaching. The deadline for individual reporting is due Jan. 1, 2022, while aggregate reports are by March 1, 2022.
Individual reports are expected from all operators except those in the Imperial Valley Water Authority and Russell-Allison Water Authority and in counties that report in the aggregate. Those aggregate reporting counties are: Champaign-Ford-Vermilion, Crawford, Johnson-Massac-Pope-Alexander, Marshall-Putnam, Mercer and White.
If they prefer, operators in aggregate reporting counties may submit an individual report directly to the state Water Survey by Jan. 1.
County Farm Bureaus or Soil and Water Conservation Districts compiling aggregated data must submit their report by March 1, 2022.
All irrigators must submit a Well Registration Form (Well Registration form v. 2018), whether submitting water use as part of an aggregate or reporting as an individual. If an individual would like to report as part of an aggregate submission, he or she still has to provide a well registration form (Well Registration form v. 2018) to the entity aggregating the data, along with their matching water use data and acreage for each. The Irrigation Handbook 7-31-2020 offers instructions on how to complete the registration form.
An online reporting tool is available. Irrigators log into a personal account and have access to every annual report they have submitted, a graph showing their water use over time and a map of their farming operation.
Those submitting individual reports may do so using email, postal services or online. Reports will be accepted for prior outstanding years as well. Those submitting aggregate reports use the postal service or email them to ISWS-IWIP@isws.illinois.edu
