Alice June Thomas, 87, formerly of Edinburg, passed away at 12:46p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Pana Community Hospital. She was born on January
3, 1934 in Springfield, the daughter of James Clarence and Mary Evelyn Rhoades. She married Marvin L. Thomas Sr. on June 4, 1952 in Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2012. Alice spent most of her life as a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her family. She enjoyed crocheting and was a talented cook. She dearly loved her chil- dren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Marvin L. Thomas Jr. of Taylorville, Randall W. Thomas (Reggie) of Taylorville, Debra L. Mathias (Tim) of Edinburg, Terry Littrell of Taylorville, Paul Thomas (Wendy) of Paducah, Kentucky, and Evelyn Risse (Mike) of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grand- children; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Kathy Lomprez; infant daughter: Brenda K Thomas; sisters: Mary Shiffer, Pauline Rhoades, and Janet Vargo; and brother: Jim Rhoades.
The funeral service for Alice will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Follis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will take place in the Edinburg Cemetery. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrange- ments. My parents Cliff and Nellie Conaway were friends with Marvin and Alice. May they all RIP in Heaven, hope they are all together again. Also Alice came to visit my Dad at the assisted living as she was in the same place. Dad passed not long after, good to see her. So sorry for the loss of Alice she was a sweet lady. The Family is in our thoughts and prayers.
