Armelda Ann (Hendricks) Cameron

Armelda Ann (Hendricks) Cameron, 94, of Owaneco passed away at home on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 surrounded by her children. She was born August 25, 1927 in Taylorville, Ill. to Dan and Opal (Long) Hendricks.

Armelda was a graduate of
Taylorville High School. Armelda
married the love of her life, Merle
Monroe Cameron on September 7,
1952 and they spent 64 beautiful
years together until the time of his
death in 2016. Together, they built
a large farm in rural Owaneco and raised three children.

Armelda was the glue of her family. She devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed gar- dening, crocheting, playing bingo, hosting family gatherings, napping through her soaps and she made the best noodles. She was known for always having a smile on her face.

Armelda is survived by her children: Mary Jane (Larry) Clucas of Rockford, Jean Ann (Jim Jr.) Vandenbergh and Danny (Christy) Cameron both of Pana; grandchildren: Michelle (Tyler) Christer of Byron, Ill., Christine (Haven) Cherry of Minot, N.D., Laura (Blake) Hubbartt of Tower Hill, Rachel (Neil) Tester of Morrisonville, Ryan Vandenbergh, Aaron Vandenbergh, Tyler Cameron and Anna Cameron, all of Pana; great-grandchildren: Mackenley and Tripp Christer, Logan Cherry, and Hazel and Lola Hubbartt; special niece: Linda Sue (Cleon) Spence of Taylorville; and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her hus- band: Merle Cameron; parents; siblings: Albert Hendricks, Dan Hendricks and Betty Backovitch; and grandson: Jesse Cameron.

Funeral services for Armelda will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Owaneco Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.

Memorials in Armelda’s honor may be made to Sacred Heart School or Knobs Baptist Church and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
