MOWEAQUA— Junior Brody Barnes carrying the ball and his team to victory on Friday night against the Meridian Hawks. Barnes came away with multiple touchdowns in the contest. CAM wins it, 43-0.

MOWEAQUA—The Central A&M Raiders hosted the Meridian Hawks on Friday Night. Posters of the 8 senior players were hung for everyone to be admired. The 8 seniors and the whole Raider football team were lead by sophomore quarterback Drew Damery. Damery made his first start on the varsity team this game. They danced away with the huge 43-0 victory.
BOOM! BANG! Fireworks sig- nal a Central A&M Touchdown in the first few minutes of the game and before most fans got to their seat. Jarret Robinson nailed the point after touch- down. The senior was perfect drilling all of the teams field goals and making up 5 of the teams points. End of the first quarter the score remained 7-0.
Meridian taking shots down the field but couldn’t get past the tough brick wall of a Central A&M defense. Holding the cemented Hawks scoreless through all four quarters is tough but this team made it look easy. Getting the ball in their offenses hand every drive made for a plethora of scoring opportunities for the Raiders. Not wasting anytime finding the endzone two more times in the first half were the hometown Raiders.Going into the half up 21-0 the Raiders felt confident in their abilities to make plays when they needed.
They came out the second half and did it all over again. Taking no time at all to let the Hawks catch their breath Damery opened up the second half with four consecutive quarter back runs. Connecting on small passes moved the chains and inched the Raiders closer to another score. Finally giving the ball to Brody Barns to find his way to the end zone. The junior Barnes finessed his way to the endzone multiple times in the contest. The running back showcased his movement tempo the Hawks could barley run aside. PAT good the Raiders added to their lead, 28-0.
The Raiders kickoff brought back down to the 43 yard line. The Hawks had any chances of scoring ripped away by the monsters of the Central defense when a group met the Meridian QB who lost the ball going down. Raiders recover and score easily on a junior running back Will Thompson rush.
Using the fake kick pass 2pt advantage giving the Raiders even more cushion at 36-0. The teams offense lead by QB/RB duo found the goalline one more time before the final whistle blew.
“We did a pretty good job. No turnovers and we were able to run the ball.” Head coach Brent Weakly commented after the game. The Central A&M football team leaves the field satisfied.
The first start of quarterback Drew Damery career ends in a W. Shutting down the Hawks and winning the game, 43-0.
The Central A&M Raiders will travel away to Sullivan for next Friday’s matchup.
