Volleyball Panthers tops Miners

PANA — The Pana Panthers volleyball team picked up its 20th win of the season, a 25-4, 25-13 win over the Gillespie Miners in the Pana High School gym on Tuesday night. It is the 20th straight season the Panthers have notched at least 20 win in a season. Eight of those seasons they have topped the 30-win mark.

The team combined for 22 kills with Jillian Hamilton accounting for 7 of them. Lanie Hicks, Chloe Ashcraft and Kiley Ladage each had 3.

Rachel Holthaus was busy in the back court as she made 15 assists and served 13 points and 2 of those were aces. Emily Blackwell served 8 points and had 3 aces. Sierra Richards made 6 digs.

Pana’s JV team was a 25- 9, 25-8 winner over the Miners and the freshman- sophomore squad were winners in two, 21-16, 21-8.    

The Panthers are 4-1 in the South Central Conference and will face the Taylorville Tornadoes at Taylorville on Monday, Oct. 18.
