TAYLORVILLE — The Taylorville Park District granted land to the proposed skateboard park at Monday night’s meeting.
After months of debate about where the park should be located, members of the community and some members of the skateboard park committee attended the park district board meeting to seek a resolution.
Alderman Megan Bryant addressed the board regarding the skateboard park location.
Bryant said, “I’m pleading with you to please help us find a spot of ground where we can just put this skateboard park. It’s no money asking from the park board, simply a spot of land to put this.”
Park District Board President Marlane Miller suggested land in the Don Braggs Sports Complex for the park. President Miller said the park district has no extra money for this park and would need an intergovernmental agreement going forward with the park.
A motion to grant land in Don Braggs Sports Complex to the skateboard park was unanimously passed.
Committee reports and the treasurer’s report were also passed at the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:28 p.m. The next park district board of trustees meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 21, 2021.
