TAYLORVILLE — WMKR Genuine Country 94.3 Radio in Taylorville hosted the 2nd annual Taylorville Kiwanis Club Pie Auction on Thursday, to benefit local projects for children and youth.
Local bakeries donated pies that were auctioned off from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Several Kiwanis members came in and brought their homemade pies to be auctioned in the afternoon.
Bakeries that donated pies include: Family Traditions Bakery, Kroger, and the Wal-Mart Super Center, all in Taylorville.
Kiwanis members that baked homemade pies that were auctioned off included: Will Perkins, Dick Wamsley, Joe Hauser, Eric Kahle, and Mellisa McMillan.
The club raised $950 during the day-long on-air event.
The Kiwanis Club thanks all those who purchased pies and also to the three local bakeries that donated pies to be auctioned.
The local Kiwanis Club is part of a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m. at the Taylorville Moose Lodge. For information on the club, go to taylorvillekiwanis.com.
