Tornadoes smash Hearts for regional championship

TAYLORVILLE — Above: The TJHS seventh grade girls basketball team with the IESA Class 7-4A regional basketball championship trophy. The Tornadoes used great ball movement and fundamentals to defeat the Effingham Flaming Hearts on Tuesday night, 35-17.

The team has had an impressive season to say the least. Having a regular sea- son record of 22-2, Coach Doug Bowsher and the seventh grade team will look forward to Wednesday, Dec. 1, for Sectionals. The game will be against Mahomet- Seymour, who defeated Champaign Edison, 24-19, also last night. The Tornadoes are hosting the sectional and tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. The winner advances to the state round of the tournament on Saturday, 4, at Bollingbrook Middle School at 2:30 p.m.
