FARMERSVILLE — A 48-year-old mother of two was apparently murdered on Thanksgiving Day in Farmersville. The Montgomery County town is about 25 miles southwest of Taylorville.
Robert J. Tarr, 48, of Collinsville is being held in the Montgomery Count Jail on $2 million bond in connection with the murder. He is currently charged with suspicion of first degree murder. Arraignment is expected today, Tuesday.
According to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Reeves, who owned the All of You Studio and Party Place in Troy, had a dating relationship at one time with Tarr.
The Sheriff’s office said they received a wellness check call about 12:42 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day for a person on Nobbie St. When deputies arrived, they found Reeves, deceased and Christopher J. Smith, 48, at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Springfield St. John’s Hospital where he was listed uncritical condition. Reeves was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said evidence showed both victims were shot at the home.
Tarr became a person of interest in the investigation and on Friday, authorities obtained a search warrant for his Collinsville home where he was taken into custody. He was then transported to Montgomery County.
