The comments from my fellow community member that Biden supporters are “uninformed” is worrisome, and is exactly what is wrong with modern political discourse. Like President Trump, President Biden has done things that I am proud of, and things that I disagree with. Partisan hatred of differing political parties only further divides us, and frankly, is a waste of energy. Instead of thinking of the “other side” as misinformed or illogical, try and understand their perspective. That’s part of being a good neighbor, community member, and citizen. Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill is a step in the right direction, and even if you personally disagree with the spending, surely you can understand that improved roads, better access to broadband, and increased public transit options, are at least kind of a good thing? Similarly, I applaud Trump’s “First Step Act”, as it was fantastic at improving the conditions of our federal prison system. I can applaud these acts while also decrying how he handled the January 6th riot. Extreme partisan politics benefit no one, and only further divide the country.
There is a big difference between the Smallpox vaccine and the Covid vaccine. The mortality rate for Smallpox was much greater and the vaccine actually prevented a person from contracting the disease to the point of eliminating it from our society. The Covid vaccine might have lessened the harmful effects of the virus (we can’t know for sure), but the ineffectiveness of it has not made it worth mandating.
Interesting to read about ourselves hometown boy Rodney Davis running for Congress again. Especially thrilled to see how he wants to improve roads and bridges in our District. What a joke. He voted AGAINST the bi-partisan infrastructure Bill. His loyalty lies with Trump supporters and not with our hard working people who need the work.
I see our city officials scheduled another Christmas Parade during a leaf burning week. Brilliant!
