F. Laverta Tewell

F. Laverta Tewell, 100 of Taylorville passed away on Satuday,December 4, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at her son’s home in Taylorville, Ill.. She was born on January 1, 1921 in Britt, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Elmer and Alma Maude (Elder) Prior. She married Lester D. Tewell on April 23, 1942 in the Providence Methodist Church. Laverta was a housewife and seamstress at Summers in Taylorville, Ill., and a member of The First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her sons: Don (Rosie) Tewell of Taylorville, Ill., and David (Crysti) Tewell of Tucson, Ariz., grandchildren: Andrew (Jodie) Tewell of Garden City, K.s., Rebecca (David) Roberts of Taylorville, Ill. ; Bryan Tewell of Nashville, Tenn.; David Tewell and Fiance Keyna of Cookeville, Tenn.; Daniel Tewell of Tucson, Ariz., great-grandchildren: Thorin Roberts of Taylorville, Ill.; Sophia Roberts of Taylorville; JoAnne (Glen) Thomas of Kincaid, Ill., great-great-granddaughter: Lily Thomas of Kincaid, Ill. Survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant sons: Ronald and Raymond, brothers: Bill, Wayne, Bob and Tom; sisters: Margaret, Erma, Vesta, Edna, Gladys and infant sister: Clara.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.at The First Church of the Nazarene in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.at The First Church of the Nazarene in Taylorville with Rev. Russ Burch officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Ill.
