EDINBURG — The Village of Edinburg held a regular meeting on Monday, December 13, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Hall.
At the meeting, Village Attorney Rocci Romano told that Board that he was down to his last five easements needed for the raw water line project to begin. He hopes to get those finished as soon as possible, so that the project can begin on time.
He also confirmed that the agreement with Sharpsburg and Neighboring Area Water Systems was signed by the Village President.
Romano also shared with the Board a law suit filed against the Village by a convicted felon. Romano said he did not expect anything to come from the lawsuit, and the the Village should be fine. He hopes the Board doesn’t have to hear about it again. According to Romano, there was no merit to the claims being made against the Village. He just wanted to bring the matter to the Boards attention so they were aware of it.
The Board voted to approve Christmas bonuses of $250 for full time employees and $100 for part time employees at the meeting. They also approved the annual tax levy in the amount of $89,197.93.
Police Officer Jonathan Kleckner submitted a letter of resignation that was approved at the meeting. Since he left before his contract obligation was up, Kleckner will be required to repay the remaining time left. The Village worked out a repayment plan of $203.72 each month for 49 months. The Village also approved buying two village owned pistols for the police department at a cost of $1,430.
When the grace Memorial Church sold, the church donated $6,000 to the Edinburg Police department. In the spirit of the holidays, the Village and Police Department decided to donate the funds themselves, to the Capital Area Career Center.
Gas Superintendent Mike Lebshier asked o purchase a tablet in order to complete Commerce Commission paperwork as the work was completed. Lebshier said that most of the paperwork were digital records that would be kept on a cloud storage system. The Board agreed to purchase a tablet for Lebshier not to exceed $5,000.
