Charles A. Angelo

Charles A. Angelo, 83, of Morrisonville, passed away at 3:16 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at his residence.

Charlie was born October 12, 1938 in Carlinville, the son of Gilbert and Martha (Sutton) Angelo. He married Betty M. Mitchell on April 12, 1964 at the Morrisonville United Methodist Church, and they have enjoyed over 57 years of marriage.

Charlie graduated from Girard High School with the Class of 1956, and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Air Force. He turned his honorable service to the Air Force into a career with the United State Air National Guard, where he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant and 42 years of service. In his retirement, Charlie and Betty spent a lot of time painting commercially for many residents, businesses, and churches in Morrisonville. He was an avid gardener, talented carpenter, and he loved to bowl and enjoy a few beers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Bryan Mitchell; step-sister, Mary Lou Remling; and step-brother, Robert Utt.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Betty M. Angelo of Morrisonville; son, Chad Angelo of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Kelli Showalter of Rochester; grandson, Daniel Showalter of Rochester; sister, Connie (husband, Tom) O’Neill of Florida; and brother, John (wife, Bobbie) Angelo of Texas.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin Street, Morrisonville, Ill. 62546.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville with Rev. LuAnne Stewart officiating.
Private interment with military honors will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

    Served with Charlie in the Air Guard for several years. A fine gentleman.
