Both the Taylorville High School girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Rochester to battle it
out with their long-time non-conference rival Rockets on Saturday night.

The Tornado girls team, as it was a close game, did not fair well against the Rockets. They fell by a final score of 55-43.

The boys varsity team sealed the victory, 52- 40, getting it done with a pace setting offensive performance and dominant defensive performance.

The Tornado girls varsity team played with the speed of the Rockets throughout the game but never could find the edge over their opponent. The biggest point differential either team had over one another was the six point difference right before halftime.

With the loss to the Rockets, the girls fall to a record of 4-6. Their next game will be an away matchup against Williamsville.

The Taylorville varsity boys served the Rockets a taste of their own medicine. Senior Kamren Heimsness shot and rebounded his way to an impressive double double performance. The guard finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.

Junior Will Bitchenauer hit two shots from beyond the arch adding to the total final score with 10 points.

The Tornadoes improve to a regular season record of 2-4 with the victory over Rochester. The boys team next game is tonight, Tuesday, in Effingham against the Flaming Hearts.
