Pana boys drop Trojans, 64-49

(AUBURN) — The Pana boys basketball team out- scored host Auburn, 29-18 in the second half and went on to secure a 64-49 non- conferencewinonTuesday.

Pana got 24 points from senior Colin Schmitz who led all scorers in the victory. The 5-11 senior sank 3, 3-pointers and was 3-of-4 at the free throw line. Junior Devon Peebles chipped in with15points,10ofthosein the fourth quarter.

Max Lynch put in 9 points with Brendon Schoonover and Kyle Kuhn having 6 and 5 points, respectively. Drew Hackler got 4 points and Ace Armstrong rounded out the scoring for Pana with a free throw.

Pana went out to a 20- 13 first quarter lead, but Auburn crept back into the game by scoring 18 points in the second frame and trailed the Panthers, 35-31. In the second half, Pana held a 29- 18 scoring advantage.

At the free throw line, Pana went 50%, 10-of-20 while Auburn was 8-of-11, 73%.

Pana improves to 5-1 overall andhavewon5inarow.In South Central Conference action, the Panthers are 1-0, getting ready to face a tough Hillsboro team this evening, Wednesday. Action starts with the freshman game at 5:00 p.m. and the junior varsity follows. The varsity contest should tip about 7:30 p.m.
