(PANA) — The Pana Police Department have announced the arrest of Donald R. Minard, 40, who resides at the Rosebud Motel and charged him with three felony accounts, including exploitation of a child under 13 years of age.
The arrest occurred at 3:47 a.m. Christmas morning, Dec. 25. The exploitation charge had been filed earlier after he allegedly exposed himself to minor outside of his apartment door.
In the attempt to arrest Minard, the suspect, barricaded himself inside the apartment and refused to comply with police orders.
Later, an officer was able to make contact with him at the front door, where a struggle ensued and continued inside his apartment. Minored resisted arrest and the officer attempted to call for backup, but was not able to transmit with his radio. A nearby citizen then entered the apartment and assisted in helping to secure the suspect. Minard is charged with sexual exploitation of a child, a felony and resisting a peace officer, a misdemeanor.
In Christian County County court on Wednesday, Minard had bond set at $50,000. Public Defender Tiffany Senger was appointed as counsel. First appearance with counsel is set for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022.
Minard was already out on $10,000 bond (10% cash applies) in a Shelby County case, charging him with aggravated battery. The alleged incident happened in July of 2020. Late in August of 2020, he found to be unfit to stand trial and transferred to the Chester Correctional Center.
In July of 2021, he was found fit to stand trial. A final pre-trial in the case was set for today, Dec. 29, at 1:15 p.m. However, motions to re-evaluate the defendant for fitness was filed yesterday, Dec. 28, in Shelby County Court.
