Genealogy Society Officers elected

CHRISTIAN COUNTY — On Saturday November 27, the Christian County Genealogy Society held their annual election of officers.

Our society has been a non profit organization since it was founded in September of 1983. The purpose is to collect, preserve genealogy and historical material relating to Christian County and make it available to the public for research.

We have done many things in the past 38 years. We have many family tree seminars and cemetery walks and speakers. But did you know we have a great library with not only Christian County records but many of the surrounding counties. Our library is in the Pence Building at the Christian County Historical Society grounds.
We have birth, marriage and death records and a great collection of obituaries. We also have researched and printed records of all the county cemeteries. We have microfilm of the Taylorville papers dating back to 1894 and other community papers back to 1865.

There is a great collection of family histories, and we encourage people to send us copies of their family stories and histories.

Do you have an interest in your family history? Come out and visit us. We are happy to help you get started. Our winter hours are Saturday 10-2 at the Pence Building. You can also visit us on Facebook at Christian County IL Genealogical Society or our website at www.christiancountyilgenealogicalsociety.org.
