MT.AUBURN — The Village of Mt. Auburn held a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 6:45 p.m. in the Village Hall.
Opening the meeting with a public hearing, the Board closed the grant the Village had used to fund the project. The purpose of the public hearing was just to finalize closing the grant, as the funds had been expended. The project itself will wrap up once the seeding and mulching has been completed in the spring. There will be a one year warranty on the work, and the Village also has the option to withhold the bond payments to the contractor if they are unsatisfied or think more work needs to be done. The Board said they would go walk around the Village and take a look at all the areas they believe need repaired and fixed up before declaring the project done and complete.
With one water project finished, it feels like the Village is jumping right into another. The large water treatment plant being built outside of Illiopolis is proceeding more or less on schedule, according to Lee Beckman of Milano and Grunloh Engineers. There have been some delays in the construction due to supply chain issues, but Beckman said he expected the plant to start up near the end of March.
The Village will be getting water from the water plant. The Village will have it’s own meter for the water plant usage on the edge of the village. For those who were worried about a possible change in water pressure, Beckman explained that there should not be a noticeable change at all. The water pressure coming from the plant should be more than enough to pump the water all the way to the Mt. Auburn Water Tower.
The Village has been looking to hire an animal control officer, but has so far not received any interested applicants. The Board was not clear on what steps to take next. The Village has made progress on collected past due water bill payments, but as always, says there are some that they just cannot get to pay. However, it was still seen as an overall improvement.
Also approved at the meeting:
– Treasurer’s report
– December 2021 bills
– December regular meeting minutes
The next regular meeting of the Village of Mt. Auburn Board will take place on Tuesday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Hall.
