(PIASA) The Pana Panthers boys basketball team traveled to Piasa on Friday to take on the Southwestern Birds in a South Central Conference matchup. Pana had a 31- 17 lead at halftime and didn’t let up in the second half, posting a 61-38 victory.
The Panthers have now won 13 games in a row and are 3-0 in SCC play.
A trio of seniors led Pana’s scoring attack, all in double digits, with Colin Schmitz leading the way with 20 points. Right behind was Brenden Schoonover who scored 18 and Drew Hackler pumped in 16 points. Kyle Kuhn finished the game with 5 points and Ace Armstrong finished up with 2 points.
Senior Carson Cooley led Southwestern with 15 points.
Pana went 6-of-11 from he line for 55% and the Birds were 1-of-2, 50%.
Saturday night, it was another road trip for the Panthers as they went to the east side of the state to face non-conference foe Newton. Details of the game will appear in the Monday edition of the Breeze-Courier.
