Arrests
Jan. 10:
Clayton W. Foster, 54, of Auburn, was arrested and charged with retail theft.
Jan. 11:
Deputies arrested Joseph Hicks, 57, for theft.
Ashley Buscher, 36, was arrested by Sangamon County deputies for forgery.
Matthew Burrus, 43, was arrested by deputies for chemical breakdown of a controlled substance.
Accidents
Jan. 12:
A car driven by Donna J. Heninger, 86, of Taylorville, was exiting the Walmart parking lot, turning left on to Illinois Route 29 and according to the driver of the other vehicle, Jeffery J. Hembree, 36, of Xenia, her vehicle changed lanes and the vehicles sideswiped. No injuries were reported and the Heninger car had to be towed from the scene. Heninger was cited for illegally changing lanes.
At 7:02 p.m., a car driven by Christopher J. Gideon, 47, of Mechanicsburg, struck a pedestrian at the Underpass near Park and Pawpaw St. At the time, Taylorville police were helping a semi driver clear the viaduct. Brett D. Thunhorst, 52, of Taylorville, was assisting in helping the semi when he was struck. Police said Thunhorst was able to walk away from the scene and refused medical attention.
