The Taylorvlle junior high volleyball teams beat EffinghamSt.Anthonyon Tuesday night. The 7th gradegamesendedwith final scores of 25-9 and 25-7. The 8th graders etched their two victories of 25-22 and 25-9.
The 7th grade Tornadoes showed no mercy against Effingham in both games. Holding the team to single digit scores while they reached the 25 marker with ease.
Molly Smith and Lailia Hancock lead the team in service aces. Both finished with three aces each. Smith also had three kills in the matches but it was Gianna Tarr who took control of the kills adding four to the team’s stat line. Grace Rogers and McKinley Siemplekamp came together to add four aces to the Tornadoes total. Siemplekamp also added one kill along with two kills from Elise Williams.
The Tornadoes notched a couple more tallies in the win column, 25-9 and 25-7.
Feeding off the energy provided by their classmates the Taylorville eighth grade team hopped on the court next. They too showed Effingham they meant business. Alayna Vincent had a huge night having four service points, three aces, four kills, seven assists and two digs. Brogan Anderson had two service points, two aces, five kills & four digs. Robyn Odugesan lead the 8th grade in service with six service points and four aces. Odugesan also had four kills & three digs. Ryan Prince had a team high eight assists and also one dig. Rounding out the teams stats Josie Heberling had one service point, two blocks & two kills. Keira Brandis had two digs. Emlyn Mateer had two kills. Carleigh Owens had one service point. They won both games with ease beating Effingham 25-22 and 25- 9.
Next up on the agenda for Taylorville both teams will face off against Chatham at home January 13th. First serve will be at 5:30.
