Sr. Mary F. Crivello

March 2, 1928 — January 20, 2022

Sr. Mary F. Crivello, S.F.O, 93, of Taylorville, passed away at 3:10 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Heritage Health in Pana.

Mary was born March 2, 1928 in Taylorville, the daughter of Anthony Bernard ìJoeî and Thelma Agnes (Brooks) Crivello. She graduated from the 8th Grade at St. Mary School in Taylorville, and went on to attend Sacred Heart Academy in Springfield, and St. Louis University. She then gained employment with St. Louis University in the social services department, where she worked for many years. Mary went on to work as a switchboard operator for St. Johnís Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, before retiring from the medical records department at St. Vincentís Memorial Hospital.

Mary devoted her life to the Franciscan Vows she took when joining the 3rd Order of St. Francis. Her devotion to Christ and Catholicism was known to all who knew and loved her. She was a lifelong member of St. Maryís Catholic Church in Taylorville, and a longtime member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry of Granite City. Mary enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and she used her talents to make crib covers for many infants, both locally and nationally. She was a member of the Knitters Guild of Greater St. Louis, and an advocate and member for the Crisis Pregnancy Center. In her free time, Mary enjoyed traveling and tutoring students with reading difficulties.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Therese ìTee Teeî Clarke; and nephew, Kevin James Clarke.

Mary is survived by her brother, J.B. (wife, Vi) Crivello of Linden, MI; nieces and nephews, Ric Clarke of Nashville, TN, Anne Marie (husband, Albert) Lotter of Dallas, GA, Terry (wife, JoAnn) Clarke of Austin, TX, Tracy Mahan of Taylorville, Mark Anthony (wife, Fran) Clarke of Panama City Beach, FL, Karen Layton of St. Louis, MO, Katy (husband, Jim) Osborne of Indianapolis, IN, and Kelly (husband, Tom) Moody of Houston, TX; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mary made the gift of donating her body for scientific research.

Visitation & Memorial Mass: The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Maryís Catholic Church, 108 W.

Adams Street, Taylorville, IL 62568, with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz as celebrant.
