David Alan Scott
February 22, 1957 ‐ November 20, 2021
David Alan Scott of Taylorville passed away at Carlisle hospital in Champaign, Illinois
on November 20, 2021 at 10:31 a.m.
David was born on February 22, 1957, son of the late Robert Scott of Tovey, and Laura Lee of Anderson, SC.
Spending most of his childhood in Clarksville, Tenn., he graduated from Clarksville High School in 1975. After graduating, he moved
to Ft Lauderdale, Fla. and then to Myrtle Beach, S.C, where he met his best friend, Norm Fernie. Together, they built a successful courier business.
David also worked as the manager of gaming operations at an amusement park in Myrtle Beach. He eventually moved to the Taylorville area to be near his family. He lived with and took care of his father, in Tovey, until his fatherís death.
After that, David retired and settled in Taylorville. He enjoyed working in his yard, going to auctions, traveling, and cooking for family and friends. David had a huge heart and was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be forever missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Scott, and his beloved dogs, Charlie and Donna.
He left behind five brothers: Bobby Scott, Steven Scott, Billy Joe Scott, Don Humphrey (Angela Humphrey), and Tommy Schuyler (Jessica Clavin), as well as three sisters: Mary Ann Scott, Bonnie Kay Matheny (John Matheney), and Pam Schuyler, all from Taylorville.
Also surviving, and from Taylorville, are his Aunt, Anna Anthony, and several nieces and nephews, along with several from other cities. In addition, he leaves behind his dear friends Heather Fernie of Charleston, S.C., Sylvia Nelson and Laura Humphrey of Taylorville, and Mike Riggins of Clarksville, Tenn.
David was cremated, according to his wishes, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at The Cork and Keg in Taylorville. We will start around 2 p.m. and there will be food (however, bringing a dish would be appreciated!!!).
