TAYLORVILLE — There’s a new officer on the force in Taylorville, and they couldn’t be prouder to have him. The Taylorville Police Department welcomed K-9 “Joker” to their ranks this week. Joker was born on December 8, 2019. Taylorville Police will now have two K9’s to cover days shifts and night shifts. This is a great tool to fight the war on drugs.
Wheeler stated “Joker” would be tasked with narcotics detection as well as helping find missing people and fugitives. Wheeler also stated that he believed in having an additional dog to deter individuals from conducting criminal activities.
Joker will be working with handler Officer Rachel Priddy.
